Upcoming weather warning!

Hello everyone, Cata, your resident weather ~~god~~ mod here! I want to point everyone's attention to the weather calendar, particularly the 22nd and 23rd.

That's right, freezing rain. I would say the rain begins early morning of the 22nd and there'd be a layer of ice over everything by 9 AM, continuing rain and freezing over the 22nd and ending the evening of the 23rd. Ice buildup is somewhere between one and two inches (2.54 cm to 5.08 cm), enough to put some strain on trees, break some branches, knock out electricity if you so wish.

Never having seen freezing rain to this level before, I'm trying to get an idea of how long the ice would last on the trees and continue affecting them, considering there's snow and a cold snap in the following days. Do you think the tree-falling problem would persist (and even get worse) through the weekend?

Ooooooh! 8D As someone who lived through an ice storm that knocked my power out for a month this probably excites me more than it should!!

.......... Oh wow. That is both beautiful and terrifying at the same time.

So what exactly falls from the sky with freezing rain? Is it like water that freezes upon impact, or is it actual chunks of ice/hail? I'm having a hard time picturing it.

Any time electricity is being messed with I chortle to myself, as my luddite character was responsible for tossing out pretty much all of the electric devices in house 34 except the lights, fridge, and heating. And in the latter case they have a woodstove. Unintended benefit of not being a technology fan!

Yeah, House 34 is just gonna keep on keepin' on, pretty much. XD Go luddites.

Would any CH7 people like to do something with this? It could be a way for residents who possibly haven't run into each other to meet up! They can deal with power problems together. Or something. /I don't know

Oh, this could be fun. Akgi and Link will definitely be staying inside. Could be fun to have some community building logs to have people meet up!

ST!Link might get caught outside at first, if anyone wants to play with that...?

I kind of want to say Yun's stocked up on candles for the occasion, but I don't know if CH4 will have an outage or not.

Rydia (and Kain) will be returning from their mission in the middle of all this pleasantness. Since she'll be drained, there won't be a chance for a Warp spell on her end. Having Helios spot them would help!

... oh dear. I'd imagine pigeons and freezing rain won't mix too well.

Cheria would happily take the pigeon inside the house to give it shelter! ... Mind, they do have a young cat wandering around in there.

and the only thing I can picture is Senri making a little campfire ~~and accidentally burning down the welcome center~~ and making some rabbit (or squirrel... or any animal he can kill just be glad it's too cold for frogs and snakes) soup for anyone that happens to be hungry and is within his field of vision.

..also him slipping and falling on his butt at least once is mandatory because freezing rain is slippery and you can slide around just because you aren't inflatable and gravity exists.
