Welcome Centre!

Jay here with a somewhat serious question?

I'm just wondering if anyone happens to know what's going on with the Welcome Centre? It seems to be completely ignored and it isn't really serving a purpose lately. Is there anyone maintaining it currently? I'd really like to get involved with it again but I've never been able to get a straight answer about what's going on.

Would it be possible for Selphie to take over or did someone else have another idea in mind? It served a much bigger role in the past and perhaps with the recent mod shift, I think now would be a good time to get that going again. It has also served in the past for getting some CR going in the game and maybe we could attract more players if we got an ICly welcoming atmosphere going again?

The Welcome Centre has taken care of a lot of things in the past including:


  • Maintaining New Feather Stations

  • Getting supplies out to New Feathers

  • Providing directions to those who are lost in the woods

  • Maintaining a residence list for the village

  • Securing a safe house type atmosphere for those who needed a safe place to stay

  • Organizing New Feather Parties and other social events

  • Offering a place for New Feathers to stay until they got their bearings or their own place



I'd love to get something going with this place again but a little input as well would be greatly appreciated. Carrying on from there, would anyone be interested in having their character volunteer/told to help out?

Aang is currently running the Welcome Center and the was a call for help earlier this month (or the end of January, is have to check the date of the post). Souji and Ginia also work there, with Ginia (and Erwin and Levi) stocking the New Feather stains. I think there are other people working there, but I'm not sure who, Ahhh.

A New Feather party would definitely be welcome though. It has been awhile.

If there was a post I may have missed it entirely. It doesn't really help that I was on hiatus for a good chunk of January. This is good info to have though and I've been chatting with Gore and Kaze about this stuff so we're gonna get stuff organized and good to go!

:3 I think the last one was back when I first brought Selphie back in July so we're definitely overdue. Time to get the creative juices flowing! o7

Posted on your plurk too, but as far as I know right now there is Aang and Souji, plus Ginia and the SnK crew who help stock the New Feather watch posts. Pirouette used to do the New Feather parties, but idk if the mun is still here or is still interested. A residence list is still maintained at the Welcome Centre, along with maps of the village (mostly done by Souji now that Pepper Potts is gone).

If Selphie wants to help out, that'd be totally cool. The only thing that Souji doesn't explicitly do for the centre is to organize the parties since he works late hours. The safe house/wayward house setting is still open in the back though and is cleaned every evening when he gets in if Aang hasn't done it. As far as I know, past IC calls for volunteers hasn't been met with much answer from the village, but people use the Centre for things like Iroh's paisho game sometimes and upstairs the tea store keeps the place rather busy.

Pilouette works there still! She was doing New Feather parties (along with general Welcome Center stuff), but with app cycles going on every month I wasn't sure how much use the logs would get. If people are still interested in those, I would definitely be up for having Pils set those up again.

EDIT: There's also a Google spreadsheet that lists who works where, including the welcome center, in case anyone needs to add themselves.

Kaze, Gore and I have been chatting on plurk about this very topic! Because we're back to monthly app cycles and there aren't as many New Feathers coming in these days, we were thinking that maybe having the New Feather Party every three months or so. This way, there should be enough New Feathers to warrant having a New Feather Party for and there won't be a log every three months as a results.

If you're game for it, I'd love to collaborate on the New Feather Parties with you! :3

That sounds great! I was actually thinking the same thing! Since it'll be warmer then, maybe an outside party?
