Stats post for July!

Last post for reference and the spreadsheet. Old posts can be found with the stats tag on LJ and DW.

Anyway, for those who don't know, I make this post after all the apps are in every cycle for everyone to see all sorts of fun little statistics about characters and players in the game. I gain nothing from this besides having a very handy reference when I need it and for others to enjoy looking at. It may seem time consuming, but it really isn't unless a character makes me go WTF over what they are.

And also, welcome new players! I know I didn't get around to commenting on all the intros, but I'm happy to see you all nonetheless.

Character count: 371 characters
Females: 153
Males: 218
Female to Male ratio: 1.42 (which is the closest to 1:1 we've ever gotten)

Huge improvement on the gender ratio, character count went up a bit overall. Number of apps are usually pretty low for May and July looking back, so it will likely get back to normal in September.

Players: 201
Average number of characters per player: 1.85
Canons: 146 (OCs not counted as a canon per usual)

Number of players went up again by a good amount, always a good thing because that means we're getting new players and returning old players. Looks like a good number are also apping multiple characters since the average number of characters per player went up as well. Number of canons went down.

To explain the above categories, unless a character absolutely cannot be identified by looking at them as far as age they are placed into an age category for how old they look in terms of species and a normal human in the case of humanoid species. An animal would be placed in an age category fitting for their appearance as a child or adult animal and my putting them at an approximate human representation based off how young or old they are. Like a young adult animal would be placed in the 20-24 category, but an older animal would be in 40 and older. Then if there is some strangeness to the character that causes them to be older than they appear (besides the usual anime style sucks at portraying age well) they go in one of the last three. Artificial creations is stuff like replicas and robots who tend to look far younger than they appear, though some are far older too. Immortals is the obvious, the immortal folks who don't ever age and cannot die by age and disease usually. Last category covers those who do age, but live longer or have mental experiences beyond their apparent age or any other case where what they appear to look age wise does not match up with their actual age and they aren't immortal or artificially created. Some characters do fit in more than one of these categories and if that happens I put them in the best fitting one.

And while I do keep tabs on the species we do have in Luceti, there are so many that posting about them would be lengthy. Feel free to compare them, and I did redo it so that comparing across the board is a bit easier now.

And don't forget about the archive of all characters who have been apped to Luceti and when they were apped.

A few things of note with this, however: This does not include every character ever apped. Some of the rules from when the game first opened along with deleted apps make a truly inclusive list an impossible feat. However I can say this does pretty much include likely 95% of the characters that have been accepted into Luceti. Secondly, just because a character was apped doesn't mean they introed. I tried to not include ones I don't recall ever introing, but I can only remember the more recent ones. But if a character posted an IC intro that I can recall, they were included, even if they dropped right after that. Just more something to keep in mind since any of those characters may have been around for just one post and vanished.

Otherwise, enjoy the nostalgia of it and squee over some of the pretty amazing stuff we've seen in this game and feel free to use as you wish.

And as always, if there is anything I missed in either document feel free to let me know so I can correct it ASAP.

Since I think you're also including re-apps to that Archive, I just wanted to add Roku (ATLA) was apped back in 05/2012.

I've found a more reliable timeline to work with, so Tony's age is actually younger than what I guesstimated--he can be docked down to 40 now.

The only change I've got is Ion's apparent age should be 16 now since he's started counting his "age" by Luceti years!

...though it'll never really be his apparent age since lol Abyss calender, everyone ages twice as slow. The other age is still 4 until I take the time to recalculate that since I keep it in Auldrant years.

He'll always look like a 12 year old girl anyway so it works.

Don't even get me started on the Abyss calendar and how they should be far older than they look and nothing is said to explain this. I always just assumed their days were shorter or something.

There's actually somewhere I think they said that the days are approximately the same length. It's pretty weird.

Actually, I may be mistaken, but it looks as though Abyss days are actually slightly longer, since I believe it says one hour is sixty minutes and sixty seconds. Meaning everybody gets an extra twenty-four minutes a day.

I'm guessing you just missed a lot of the 5/12 cycle because Mayoi's reapp isn't on the archive either.

Three things!

Precis is Expelian, not human! She looks younger than her age and will live longer. Also, La'gaan (Young Justice, or DC animated) was not added from last app cycle to the app list, aaaand Azusa is now 22 (a bit older actually).

Can you give me some more details on what an Expelian is so I can know what to fit it in with? Or would "Other Humanoid creature" probably fit best? I know that's what I stuck Arumat in as when we still had him.

An Expelian is basically the humanoid evolutionary pattern of planet Expel. They are extremely similar to humans, but they have a higher physical and mental capacity and age more slowly, but not to the point where they're superhuman! It's just if you put the two side by side.

Okay, so I'll note that on the main sheet, though probably as far as the species count unless you think other humanoid creature is better, going to keep her with the humans since she's similar enough. I'm canon blind to Star Ocean, so will leave that at your call.

Yeah, he has to be, but never seems to acknowledge his birthday. Honestly, there's a lot that likely need to be aged up a year just for being in Luceti over a year whether they look their age or not!

Yeah, a lot of them tend to slip through the cracks like that. I'm sure the distribution might look a little different if they were all up to date.

Amazing as always, Nadia! Just one thing: Kohaku is genderless, but presents as female. Genders are weird in that series.

Probably should note for reference that for gender, it is either what the character identifies as or what the creators use to refer to the character. I know you put on the app that Kohaku was referred to as a she, so I ran with that.

Funnily enough, the creators originally made her male. This was changed in the translation to avoid the homosexuality label. Pointless trivia is pointless; she's female here.

Tenzin is 51 and introed, so I think you can add one gain to the 40+ bracket?

Actually, he's in there. Right under Lin Bei Fong. The order is a bit weird because I do it in order of the canon first, and then order apped in second. That way I don't have to determine things like would Tony Stark fall under T for Tony, S for Stark, or even I for Iron Man.

If it gets confusing, there's always control + f to find people easily! I do that when removing.

The reason that bracket says there's zero growth is because the addition of Tenzin and Lin (and others) was balanced out by characters in that same bracket dropping since the last update.

And here I thought I just missed Tenzin, but yep, in the case of that bracket drops and new characters balanced out fully. Sometimes they don't, sometimes there is more adds than drops, and sometimes more drops than adds.
