A little mining, a little crafting, Luceti edition?
WHAT'S UP LUCETI?
It's no secret that I'm crazy into Minecraft. Like obsessively in ways I can't describe. So for a while now I've been looking into what it takes to host a multiplayer server because I really want to build an interactive Luceti village except it would be no fun if other people couldn't come hang out in it too.
I finally set up the server yesterday and started getting to work on the terrain beaten into submission. I set up spawn along the edge of a river that looks like it might match the Luceti terrain as depicted here and got this far with it in my "SHINY NEW THING" exuberance last night:

This is, in theory, representative of the southernmost bridge, around House 33-ish. You can still see all the terraforming I DIDN'T do because I wanted to play with floorplans and stuff more.
SPEAKING of floorplans:
vs
y/n?
In addition to the company to make it feel like a multiplayer server is ACTUALLY multiplayer, I could use another set of eyes to make sure I'm keeping the map accurate based on the resource sketches available to us. And then there's also the fact that Minecraft is a fairly hilly sort of place in general, with all these mountains and trees hanging out where they have no business being, and if anyone else finds it cathartic to clearcut 1x1 blocks, I'll love to have you around. xD
So tl;dr I'd love it if any other minecrafters in our game would like to poke around the work in progress - and maybe grab a shovel >>
It's a whitelisted server (natch), so if anyone wants to come hang out for a while, just drop your minecraft s/n in a reply and I'll add you and WE CAN BUILD OUR CHARACTERS' HOMES.
Srsly. I can't be the only one excited about getting a 3d representation of how long it actually takes my characters to walk to the grocery store.
(Also did this belong in lucetifans? I COULDN'T DECIDE. :|)

I don't play Minecraft as much as I used to and I'll probably be scarce until the end of the semester and I've always been more of a mapper/spelunker than a terraformer/builder, but I would love to help out with this.
Minecraft SN is gorsecloud

I dropped your SN in the whitelist so you shouldn't have problems whenever you feel like hanging out. I've been building from the back of the spawn building (There's a spawn building because I've been hideously lazy about properly lighting things) and north on the Luceti map from there, so if you want to just pop in and spelunk, there's plenty of room to just dig still. Luceti DOES canonically have an elaborate tunnel network, after all. :3
The server's at 96.8.119.66:25587 whenever you feel like dropping in!

Um, Meowzy linked me to this over AIM, and while I'm not a player yet (I'm working on my app for the next cycle), I am definitely a minecraft fan, and would love to help out once I'm home for the summer and can play multiplayer. Which is like. In two weeks. /)*_*(\ So if you'll still need a hand by then...
My SN is alanahikarichan, btw. C:

And THE MORE THE MERRIER! If you don't mind derping around replicating a roleplay setting, I definitely won't mind having you! I already dropped your SN onto the whitelist - server is 96.8.119.66:25587 when things slow down.
ALSO HELLO and sort-of welcome to Luceti! xD I'm Jessie. :Db

Having already replicated roleplay settings in Minecraft and Sims 2, I am pretty sure I won't mind at all. XD And it's already looking so pretty! I love how you're using the new colored woods. *3*
AND HELLO TO YOU TOO I'm Alana! It's nice to meet you, and I hope I'll be playing with you by this time next month~ C:

I LOVE THE DARK WOOD. I've always hated using stuff like crafting tables just to give floors a different texture than walls. I still don't know what to do for roofs though. I tried just using regular wood blocks and I kind of hate it. :| /firstworldproblems
YAY NICE TO MEET YOU TOO!

I'm starting to think it's more that I have no idea what a roof looks like, let alone a minecraft roof. I have tested both those thingies and now it looks like this house has a tumor. XD I SHOULD PROBABLY GOOGLE THIS.

I eventually decided that I think fence-gates make an interesting visual and came up with this:

Though I DID end up using your stair idea to add a railing. And now that I step back to look at it I'm thinking it just looks like a hardmode spleef arena.
...btw there's totally going to be a spleef arena in the battledome whenever we get that far out.

Also, if it helps/hinders you at all, I got into Minecraft and learned the basics from this set of videos http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL6855ED30D394A59D&feature=plcp. They eventually started a huge server that makes MASSIVE theme builds and I find them so much more approachable than just trying to figure out the wiki page. /rambles forever

Also, collecting supplies to build things and combine items into more awesome items, though Homestuck's alchemy is a little more free-form than the crafting in Minecraft. XD

Oh.

Yeah, you wouldn't really know it from the fandom, would you?
It does center on a game, it's just that the game destroys worlds and creates universes. You know, as games do.
Also universes are frogs.
You know, as they are.
(Homestuck is weird (and I wouldn't change it for anything). C: )

BUT I AM GLAD YOU ENJOY IT and hope you stay away from all the crazy people that scare me. :|

But it is ridiculously long, I cannot deny that. :B

I'll be nonexistent until the semester is done, but my minecraft SN is kyronae!

EDIT: Oh derp -- 96.8.119.66:25587 is the server. It would help if I'd remember to mention that.

Minecraft is an indie PC title that's pretty much what you make of it. There's no real ending (I mean there's TECHNICALLY an ending but that's not the point of it) and how it gets played basically depends on the player. There's a creative mode where you can just build whatever you want out of 1x1 blocks in different materials, and an alternate "survival" style of gameplay where you forage through your surroundings for tools and building materials and occasionally have zombies trying to snack on your brains.
It's... kind of one of those internet things that's hard to explain without a mess of youtube videos.

I have a Minecraft account... and not Minecraft. Sob. But I am Amihan, and I shall pop in when I can! ♥ Even if it... might be a while...

Also wat. Why would you even. ALL THE MORE REASON TO PLAY. :|
96.8.119.66:25587. WHEN YOU HAVE A MINUTE. COME HANG.

Misa and I actually had an idea similar to this once! But it'd be really cool to do it collaboratively. <3
My Minecraft screenname is GoldenKirbichu - quelle surprise - and I'd be glad to derp around. o/`

I've been meaning to work out a map like this for a while and maybe making it downloadable or something but collaboratively is the only way it makes sense to me. XD What fun is it walking around empty houses? People should be able to design their own backyard gardens or take a mission out through a portal to the nether or spleef in the Battledome or ALL THE THINGS LIKE THAT. /RAMBLES FOREVER
Also yay I did all the whitelistingy goodness. 96.8.119.66:25587 and all that

I'm in the middle of figuring out what to do about the 1.3.1 upgrade (apparently "nothing" for a week or so is the going advice) so now's a great time for me to edit user access! What's your username? :D

I just added you to the whitelist and finished my backup -- the server should be online in like 60 seconds or so. If you haven't upgraded your minecraft software yet, it should be fine for you!
...If you HAVE already updated, then it might kick you out crying about a line of java it can't read because the server's still on 1.2.5 >>
