the moment you've all been waiting for
Hey there Luceti, anyone interested in a PLAYER PLOT? There's been some buzz on Plurk for months now, and it's getting close to the time for it, so:
Luceti's House of M!
What Does that Even Mean??
HERE is a tl;dr version of the backstory, which offers a lot more details because I like to ramble. The concept of House of M itself is a Marvel thing, so for those who don't know, the short version is this:
- the Scarlet Witch is a reality bender who was possessed and went crazy for a while
- she killed a bunch of cool people and even after she was caught she was kind of off the deep end
- she remade the world so everyone she considered to be important could live their perfect lives, with her family in control of the world
- this was undone, obviously, but it was definitely a big freaking deal
What I'd like to do is recreate something similar to this in Luceti, as an open plot. Originally it was going to be closed to Billy and Teddy's CR, but hey, the more the merrier |D So it's fair game to anyone. This is absolutely optional to everyone! So if you don't want to be a part of it, you'd only have to pay attention if your CR is affected, basically.
What's Going to Happen?
The build-up has been ongoing: Billy has been gradually be using magic more and more, for no reason, experimenting with more powerful and complex magic as his confidence grows, and while his control improves, his restraint seems to be somewhat lacking. Loki’s player has already volunteered to have Loki come forward about noticing this, ie. suggesting some kind of magic intervention, but by then it’s too late.
There will be a double kidnapping- Teddy and Billy together. Some experimentation goes on. Early on, Billy's powers will be fully accessed in order to open a nexus portal and recreate the Wanda scenario, AKA possess Billy with the Life Force to see what kind of control he'd have over it, and when that fails pretty miserably (as he starts to lose his grip on reality despite Teddy's attempts to help) they decide to take it to the next level.
They fake Teddy's death to see how the magic responds.
Predictably, Billy loses it, and when he starts TRYING to trash things despite their facility's power dampeners, they send him back to Luceti to try and delegate the damage to the enclosure instead, holding on to Teddy while they observe the mess they caused. By then, however, Billy's psyche is reaching past the destruction stage and is slipping right into the "this is not acceptable" stage: the part where Teddy not being alive is an unacceptable state of existence for him. The logic of "he'll be back in a week" can't reach a mind already lost to that madness, so Billy will become fixated on a single idea:
"Teddy can't be dead."
So he recreates his "world". Not all of it, obviously, since this is a contained player plot and would be optional even to his closest CR. The idea is that anyone who wants to be involved could become a part of "Billy's Luceti", AKA a fragmented alternate reality where Luceti is a peaceful place- there is no war, no kidnappings, no experiments. It is as if everyone has been brought into a paradise, and they have no desire to live anywhere but in this perfect, beautiful world where they have everything they could ever want. Their lives can be changed to whatever degree the player wants.
And Billy? He is the quiet, not-quite-there observer of their happiness, accompanied all along by Teddy. Who is not really Teddy. He looks perfect, and he smiles, and he is basically the perfect boyfriend. But the essence of Teddy, his soul, is completely absent. He's a high-functioning doll for a mad man.
And then Teddy returns from his own kidnapping to find that Billy is crazy and that he's been replaced. When he tries to reach out and snap him out of it, Billy will lash out at him, violently against the idea of this old, imperfect, human Teddy ruining his perfect existence. This Teddy is real, which means he can die. But since Teddy can't die in Billy’s reality, then he can't be allowed to be real. Therefore he has to kill the real Teddy so he won't die. It's backwards logic, but he's insane and possessed, so who expects logic to actually work?
Billy will be stopped, obviously- killing Teddy for real would be going past the point of no return. Once this happens, the spell will wear off and everyone still affected will realize what's been going on, though not necessarily who was responsible for it. Billy will remain possessed for a while; not as violently insane anymore, but people can visit him and he’ll try to create another miniaturized “perfect” scenario for them to try and make up for shit he’s caused - for example, Teddy's mother showing up for dinner despite being dead/not in Luceti. This can go in basically any direction and will be really personalized, so it's an option for people who don't want to be altered by the spell itself but still want to experience the effects in some way. It won't affect characters personally, just the scenario around them and Billy, and it'll be very temporary.
What Can Happen in this Perfect Life?
A lot, basically. Those affected by the magic will believe that Luceti is a paradise, and they have no problem with living within it. The world within the barrier has everything they need, and there's no war, kidnappings, or experimentation. Families can be toyed with, altered, created. Whatever would make the affected character happy, chances are it can exist. They could have different personalities, different families, different histories, even powers if they wanted. Whatever their little hearts desire. For example, Cassie could be alive, and her dad could be alive, and she has Jonas or Nate or whoever hanging on her arm. Someone who desperately wants a child could find themselves with a baby. Almost literally anything they want.
These changes have to be acceptable within game rules, obviously, so I'll have an official sign-up, and people can use this post to plot what'll happen. If there's any conflicts in what's okay or not, I'll let you guys know. Additionally, characters can be involved in the same perfect life together, if they both agree to being affected in ways that mesh. For example, if Aang and Katara wanted to be together and happily married, they would both have to sign up with that reality in mind. Aang can't just believe that they're married while Katara remains unaffected and confused. The perfect world is more or less limited to those who are a part of it, and those outside the spell's influence won't be dragged in unwillingly.
These effects will be available for roughly one week; they can wear off early or last the entire time, whatever the individual players want to do. If the effects wear off early, the characters will be disoriented and confused about what happened, but otherwise free in every way. They can remember both lives or forget the alternate to whatever degree is desired.
I'll have a thread below for questions, too.
What We Need from You
At the moment we need a few things from people who want to take part in this.
1) Who's going to be involved in Billy's magic intervention, and when would be a good time for it? He'll have to do something between now and then to make it happen, mind, but that shouldn't be too difficult.
2) Who wants to find crazy!Billy and accidentally trigger the spell? (His CR is preferable for this bit, as they'll probably need to specifically mention Teddy in some way.)
3) Who wants to be affected by the House of M's changed reality? Sign-up! Discuss! Ask questions! Plot together and indulge in your perfect lives whee.
4) Who's going to take Billy out? (Natasha Romanov has been volunteered for this previously, so if she's still game for that, then we're good here!)
5) Since Wanda required Professor Xavier in order to give everyone exactly what they wanted, I have to play around a little bit more with this part. In lieu of lacking an actual telepath, Jessie has kindly offered her empath dude, Hisoka, and with that as well as Billy’s powers and his knowledge of the characters involved, we can still roll with the “whatever you want” scenario.
When is this Happening!?
Tentatively, the first week of October is when it'll start. From the 1st to the 7th would be the duration of the spell, the confrontation would be on the 8th, which would mean Billy is out of commission when I go on my hiatus. If these dates conflict with enough people, it can probably be bumped around, but that's what works best for me.
That's pretty much the gist of it! Sign-ups and questions below! If I missed anything or need to add/amend details, I'll do so.

Sign-ups
Re: Sign-ups
Character affected: Pepper Potts
Character Canon: MCU/Iron Man 3
How has their reality been changed? First off, Extremis won't be an issue. Basically the events of Iron Man 3 will either have not happened (most likely) or have been negated (also possible).
Additionally, Pepper and Tony (to be confirmed by Bayley) will have a 5-year-old daughter. She is the entire world to her parents, and they both absolutely adores her. She's lively and precocious, every bit the scientist/princess you'd expect considering she's a Potts-Stark. She's got red hair like her mother, and big brown eyes like her father.
And there will no doubt be more details eventually.
Bonus Edit: Pepper's also going to find out she's pregnant again. :)
Anything else? Open for plotting and ideas!
Re: Sign-ups
Character affected: Loki
Character Canon: MCU
How has their reality been changed? Loki and Rogue will have an utterly adorable little six-month-old kid, with curly red hair and green eyes. (This is entirely Shira's fault, for the record.)
Also, Loki and Tony will no longer hate each other's faces. There may be a barbecue involved, we shall see.
I also realized that in his perfect world, Loki is King of Asgard, everyone there thinks he's awesome. So he's just on vacation in Luceti or something. Oh, and daddy loves him better than Thor. (HAHAHA) I don't expect this to really come up, but felt I should note it.
Anything else? Pleased to entertain any other plotting ideas! Particularly if anyone else who really hates Loki's face would like to have a Kumbaya moment with him that will make them cringe forever once it's done. (Since if there's no war in perfect world, Loki will have to forgo living out his fantasies of stabbing everyone he even mildly dislikes in the face.)

Character affected: Robin
Character Canon: Teen Titans
How has their reality been changed? There's a big fat 3-ring circus tent in the middle of Luceti. That's a thing. Feel free to stop by and watch The Flying Graysons perform. It's crazy acrobatic, yo.
In Dick's perfect world, the persona of Robin just isn't necessary. Sure, he'll remember everything that happened and smart enough to pull together that it shouldn't be, but who even cares? All of a sudden his dead parents are alive and kicking and everything's rad and simple living the carnie life.
Anything else? I got nothing.
Re: Sign-ups
Character affected: Tsuzuki Asato
Character Canon: Yami no Matsuei
How has their reality been changed? For starters his sister will be alive and well again. Tsuzuki's missed his shikigami (those are basically guardian spirits) so they'll be suddenly living together like a big happy family. No one will be hurt and no one will ever go hungry there. Cakes for breakfast, even.
Anything else? This sounds like an excellent plot. :3

Character affected: Tony Stark
Character Canon: Marvel Cinematic Universe
How has their reality been changed? AS TAD MENTIONED ABOVE Tony and Pepper's perfect life consists of basically blotting out the events of Iron Man 3 so everything is hunky-dory in their relationship and has been for awhile. In a perfect, peaceful world Tony wouldn't need to be Iron Man anymore, so he might only have the suit as an old pet project (I'm not 100% sure about this yet). Also, he very likely won't have his arc reactor anymore, simply because he won't need it.
ALSO, Tony and Pepper will have a five-year-old daughter. Tony will adore her to infinity and beyond, and while he'll still be up to science and research, his main goal these days is to spend as much time with his family as possible. He'll be teaching her fundamentals of physics along with her letters, but I'm sure he'll still get roped into tea parties. I also suspect Tony will continue to like having people over for parties and such, so that could be a thing. :B
Annnnd more details forthcoming!
Anything else? I'm open for whatever! Neighbors, friends, playdates for the kids. Lemme hear it.

Character affected: Asami Sato
Character Canon: Avatar: The Legend of Korra
How has their reality been changed? Basically, her father isn't evil and is here with her, and they run a business inventing things and being a happy family. She's back to where she was before everything went to hell in Republic City, except not rich.
But that never really mattered to Asami that much anyway? If they have 'enough', and she's happy, then she's happy. They'll have a little shop where they repair things and a workshop where they build things and Asami will be building a car, even if there isn't anywhere to drive it!
Also she might be taking tinkering lessons from Tony Stark I am not positive.
Anything else? Optional and self-explanatory!

Character affected: Natasha
Character Canon: MCU
How has their reality been changed? I'm not immersing her fully into a completely altered life/past/whatnot, but her perfect world at the moment would be staying here without threat of having it yanked away from her without warning.
With confirmation from Sra and Vil, Natasha will have tied the knot with Bucky somewhere along the way and they've unofficially adopted Rue as their daughter. They live in a house together somewhere in the village, still taking one day at a time (because let's be honest, Natasha still doesn't fully comprehend or trust living a peaceful life for any extended amount of time) and pretty much just... enjoying the time they have. Which suddenly seems a lot longer than they'd feared, but she's okay with that. :)
At some point near the end, this gets shaken off, or she has to act in spite of it, as she'll be the one going after Billy. Which I am totally up to more plotting for. Akai, I'm fully flexible to how you want this going down, let me know! :D
Anything else? Totally open for more plotting on this if anyone wants her somewhere.

Maybe Natasha could get involved in said entourage and sneak out of the fight to try and take out the source of the problem?

Character affected: Mytho
Character Canon: Princess Tutu
How has their reality been changed? His heart will be whole again. And he will be a just, righteous prince who lives pretty much a fairy tale storybookish-life. And his home can become castle-like? With Vil's approval, Rue will be the girl he chooses as his princess.
Anything else? Okay.
Re: Sign-ups
Character affected: Bucky Barnes
Character Canon: MCU
How has their reality been changed? Basically what Rynn said. Bucky is happily married with an adorable family.
His past isn't going to change much, so he'll still have been a soldier and so on, but he doesn't have to worry about himself or anyone he cares about being pulled away from Luceti to be brainwashed/dead suddenly. It's not necessarily a good thing, but he's kinda made his peace with it.
Anything else? Open to plotting stuff! Bucky teaches classes in his spare time that can be anything from dancing to boxing/self-defense/general fitness.

Character affected: Rogue
Character Canon: X-Men: Evolution
How has their reality been changed?
Life changes: First and most importantly, Rogue's powers will be completely different for this event. Instead her powers will be empathetic in nature and very similar to Dani Rosen's from Alphas. The powers are also touch-based, and at this time she has them completely under control.
Mystique still adopted her, however, but in order to make everything perfect, Mystique and Irene were of the good, told her about her powers, and brought her to visit Xavier when her powers manifested. She stayed with Mystique and Irene until they had helped her all they could, and then she joined the X-Men when there was nothing Mystique or Irene could do to help her learn to control her powers.
In Luceti: She and Loki are living together and have been for nearly a year. They have an adorable five-month old SURPRISE daughter, Anja Lokisdottir. Surprising even herself, Rogue loves being a mom, she loves being in love, and life is good in Luceti - why would she ever want to go back?
Anything else?
Not that I can think of - ping me?

Re: Sign-ups
Character affected: Tommy Shepherd
Character Canon: Young Avengers
How has their reality been changed? Instead of being the child of the Shepherds and getting all of the issues that would come from that, he's going to be one of the twin sons of Wanda Maximoff! Which means that while he's affected his last name will be Maximoff instead of Shepherd. The changes in his life make him less of a keep-things-at-a-distance guy, but still an obnoxious tool.
He'll also be dating Kate Bishop! So you know, maximum happy for the Maximoff boy.
Anything else? If you want your character to be harassed by him and all his annoyingness, a longstanding rivalry, or anything of the sort don't be afraid to hit me up.
Re: Sign-ups
Character affected: Kate Bishop
Character Canon: Marvel-616
How has their reality been changed? Family life: Kate's mother never died. Her father spent much more of his life participating in her mother's philanthropic events and raising his two daughters. Perfect doting parents that encouraged her to be the best she could be. And a sister that doesn't think life should be spent spending her father's money. So, overall? Much more caring people.
Personal life: Assault/rape in Central Park never happened. She's been dating Tommy for the past two years and couldn't be happier. Cassie, her BFF, is alive and well. And having both of them here in Luceti with her just makes life even better. Worked as Clint's assistant/partner as in comics up until arriving in Luceti.
And, depending on the other members of the team, still leads the Young Avengers. But a Young Avengers team still comprised of both the Vision and Nate. Because there is no death and sadness in ideal worlds.
Anything else? Still A-OK with her finding Billy and triggering the spell! And open to any plotting ideas!
LATEST hi
Character affected: Kari Nijihi
Character Canon: Original
How has their reality been changed? First of all, Kari won't be Hoshikyo and will never have been Hoshikyo and will basically be free from her pendent again (though this time it'll still be attached, she just won't be able to see it). She really doesn't need too much to keep her happy, but in this world her mother is living with her and since she doesn't have a job in Luceti, they can actually spend time together. She's probably still pretty antisocial though and won't be seen too much.
Anything else? BUT OKAY I WANNA BE SPECIAL because really, at this point, the spirit that lives in Kari's pendent is getting kind of sick of seeing its vessel get tossed around so much, and is especially tired of being forgotten altogether. So around day 4-5, it's going to take over and possess her, breaking her away from Billy's spell. It'll stay in control of her body until her magic wears out, by which time Billy will have been taken care of. I don't know whether it would play a role in confronting Billy since there are already a lot of people doing that
and it would probably just try and kill him which would be Not Okay, but if it gets out later that Billy was the cause of everything, the spirit might end up holding a grudge against Billy, which could be fun to play with later on down the road?no subject

Latester! In your face Sarah!
Character affected: Kurt Wagner
Character Canon: X-Men Evolution
How has their reality been changed? Kurt is older, more well-adjusted and starting his own family. This version of him was raised by Mystique (and a dad of some sort?!) who was totally not evil and still keeps in contact with him. He's grown to be proud of his blue fur and in addition to being an X-Man, has become a dorky priest who has made strides in advancing mutant causes within religious circles (it almost seems too easy for him to make this much progress). He's married to his high school sweetheart, Amanda, who is here in Luceti with him. And they have a gaggle of children who have inherited his fur and powers.
Anything else? Nothing really - there will be an alt account for his older self?
no subject
If you are not adverse to the idea, Wanda would like to be friends with Kurt, for this event? Mayhap?
(no subject)
Last-est?
Character affected: Wanda Maximoff || The Scarlet Witch
Character Canon: X-men Evolution
How has their reality been changed? Wanda is a happy, peaceful mother-of-two in this new happy world. She is a bit older, but with the age has come a very soothing inner peace. There is no concern about wars with humanity, because there IS no war with humanity. There is no fear of disappointing her father, or hurting people because she has full control of her power. There is no creeping doubt about abandonment and loneliness, because she has her children. And while she still loves her brother and neigh worships her father, she has to admit it is nice to finally get to be on her own.
Anything else? I'd kind of like her to be friends with the X-men, as part of her perfect world would include being friends with other mutants, especially those in Xavier's crowd. So right now, that would look like Rogue and Kurt. But really, ANYONE WHO WANTS TO BE FRIENDS with the Zen Witch of the Red, she's probably down.
Re: Sign-ups
Character affected: Himura Kenshin
Character Canon: Rurouni Kenshin
How has their reality been changed? Kenshin's ideal world is one he spends with his family. He will be married to Kaoru and they will have a small son named Kenji. Yahiko lives with them as a semi-adopted little brother, and in this world, Megumi and Sanosuke have not left. Kenshin no longer wears the sword because he no longer needs it, and his scar has faded so much that it's barely visible. So he's going to be interacting with characters that aren't in Luceti (but if someone wants to give me canonmates I would not object 8D) and a son who doesn't exist yet.
He's totally open for play-dates with other little kids, though Kenji's kind of a brat.
Anything else? Very open for plotting! Kenshin doesn't have much CR yet, so he can go around meeting the new neighbors or something.
The latest of the latest laters
Character affected: Vastra
Character Canon: Doctor Who
How has their reality been changed? Probably the biggest and most important thing is that Vastra will be living with her wife Jenny again. The two of them have a lovely little apartment that they keep together and do all sorts of domestic squishy and adorable things in.
Previously, Vastra was a private investigator for Scotland Yard, but after ridding London of Some-Unnamed-Criminal-Organization-Conveniently-Responsible-For-All-Bad-Things, she has been given leave to retire to Luceti on a very nice pension. And somehow, she is very content with her retirement.
And lastly, Jenny and Vastra, while unable to have children of their own, have taken a young blonde-haired boy named Thomas Thomas under their wings. He is, more or less, their son.
