IC Secret Santa!
Yo, Luceti! Rune here, with...well, not a hiatus or anything, but with a little IC event instead! It’s December, so it’s time for the IC Secret Santa! I ran it last year with lovely Azusa, but this year Panda is going to one-up Haruhi and announce he’s going to run it first. Ouch. Sorry, Haruhi.
So, here’s how it works, for those unfamiliar! In a Secret Santa gift exchange, everyone signs up to give a gift to someone, but they don’t get to pick who. Instead, they draw a name from a pool of everyone else who signed up. For example, Yun might sign up and draw Caesar, so she decides to give him a dinosaur! But that would never happen...unfortunately. In Luceti, Panda will be drawing the names for everyone behind closed doors and giving the names out instead.
Starting today, then, you can sign up your characters OOCly! Can’t get them involved, but want them to? Have a friend sign them up! Panda will explain how it works on the 4th with an IC post, so they can decide to give it a try there, too. On December 11th, Panda will tell everyone who they’re giving a gift to...because the party is one week later, on the 18th! You don’t have to have your character attend the party, but they will need to drop off their gift.
I’ll be posting a list of who drew which name on the 12th; I didn’t do this last year, but I got some feedback about it, and this will give your characters a few days to stalk people and figure out they want. The party log will go up right on time, on the 18th. This entire event will take two weeks; Panda will announce it on the 4th, give out the names on the 11th, and throw a party on the 18th.
Like last year, there are just a few small things I should mention!
1. If your character doesn't get a gift on the log by the 23rd or someone ICly refuses to give a gift to someone? Don’t worry! Panda, Shinji Ikari, or Pilouette Bonheur will leave a gift for them. Everyone will get a gift under the tree!
2. When signing up, please give me your character’s full name and journal. Last year, there were name repeats and I didn’t know who some of the people were. Oops. No one will be giving a gift to another character they play, either, and no one can change their partner even if it's their canon best friend.
3. When you receive a gift on the log, your character will not know who gave it to them, unless the gifter makes it clear.
4. If Dreamwidth pulls the same crap that Livejournal tried to pull the last time I did this, I'm going to be very upset...!
If you want your character to sign someone else up, please talk to that person and have them sign up here! I don't want characters signing up people who won't participate, it makes things generally unfair for everyone else.
So, if everything is clear, you can go ahead and sign up in this post! Just leave your characters’ full names and journal names. If you have questions, ask them under the “Questions?” comment. Let’s have fun with it this year!
