TOURNAMENT plot

So after checking with Akai to be sure it would be okay, I'm coming to you Luceti to tell you of a player plot I've come up with! So, first, let me ask you HOW YOU ALL WOULD FEEL ABOUT A TOURNAMENT with different categories for swords to archery to magic to marital arts? Of course there'll be a prize or two for the winner(s) chosen by a tally of points. (I don't know what the full prize will be, but I'll figure it out or something. Suggestions are helpful.)

What does this mean for now? It means I'd sort of like a count of who'd have characters who'd be interested and in what category would they enter in. Also I'd like to know which characters would volunteer to help with the set up or judge in the actual competition.

Anyway, the plan is to make this happen in early may if there's enough interest! Hopefully there is and we can have some shenanigans in the mean while with the set up and volunteer stuff.

Tournament Overview
Date: Early May, TBA.
Location: Battle Dome.
Grand Prize (for the most points): TBD + a trophy + a surprise bonus costume.
Prize (for the winner in each category): TBD + a bronze plate with their respective category symbol.

Other Details:
- Borrowing the most important tournament rule from DBZ: killing the opponent is not allowed.
- Unless OOCly requested, all competitors will be randomized on a chart, shortly before the tournament of course, for all one vs one categories.
- For this tournament, martial arts will be limited to just the martial arts competition and magic limited to the magic competition and so on.
- Point/Judging system will work by who the players decides wins or eventually plays out to be, and the players of the three judges will then each give the winners points based on RNG rolling the numbers between 5 and 10 for a total that can add up to as high as 30 per battle. [Idea from here.] The winners of each respective category then will have all their points tallied at the end to decide the ultimate winner among them.

- Staff: Frey, Remy.

Well, hey, she is one more person (so to speak) interested in coming to fight so that's more than helpful in actually holding a tournament. It works out in the end.

I know that at least Mac here would love to test his skills! He's a professional boxer so he'd be all up for hand-to-hand combat. He's probably like to be able to wear his gloves, though.

Hm, I didn't know we had a boxer, but can I ask if would he be okay with entering a mixed martial arts competition because there don't seem to be many other characters that would know hand-to-hand combat? Correct me if I'm wrong, though.

For the gunslingers in the village, could there be a marksmanship category?

Of course. It will probably have to be something he hears about ICly, but other than that it won't be left out.

Nagisa would definitely be for volunteering to help out.

Jayden could likely serve as a judge for marksmanship. He probably wouldn't go in for the actual tournament, but judging would work.

If there ends up being something for knife throwing (even if she's mostly against, like, the archers or the like!), Clove's in for competition.

Rock Lee will certainly be down for martial arts. (Kurt has been learning swords so I wonder if I should put him down for that too)

And of course Jade can perhaps be persuaded to judge at least the magic. Really he can wind up judging any and all categories that Peony would drag him to.

I knew I could count my old friend, Jade. I'll put him under magic but it's possible Peony will bother him to judge in other categories if no one else does.

If a tournament was announced, I could see Red being interested, but for his Pokémon. Would any consideration for Pokémon be allowed? Possibly as magical creature types going up against each other, or trying to sort them into categories (I'm not sure if Pokémon would go under 'magic').

Nevertheless, this sounds like an interesting idea!

Honestly. I'm not sure, really, because, without exception, my character is against animals being used to fight because as you can see in the icon he's a huge lover of a certain animal. Though it's wonderful idea otherwise! Maybe you should just have Red challenge other pokemon owners in Luceti instead and see where that goes in a log or something.

ETA: Also, early May is when I'm planning to be out on a cruise, so I may not have internet access during that time. So I guess the demonstration or the scoring would have to be handwaved? Or are characters actually fighting each other?

You're free to put her up and backdate when you can, and if you figure out that you absolutely can't, pulling out is fine too.

As for all the stuff that can be RPed, I think I'll be making a gigantic log with threads for the fights, pre-fight shenanigans, volunteer stuff and so on; but be leaving it up to the muns to play out anything or nothing.

Grune would totally volunteer to be a judge, but everyone would get 100 points all the time, so uh. She might also wander into the magic category if she thinks it looks like fun, so there's also that.

Sophie is definitely going to try to sign up for the mixed martial arts category. How you want to handle that is up to you. XD

Peony doesn't know that so if she wants to be a judge, a judge she shall be. Same thing goes for her entering the magic category. You have plenty of time to decide though, since I haven't even put up the IC post just yet.

Uh, don't do it, Sophie. But I honestly think Peony will handle that by trying to convince her it's better to be the one to sit, watch, and cheer on everybody else. If that doesn't work, it could be their little secret in learning everyone's tricks beforehand which is totally better.

Would the magic be strictly magic, or is combination of magic and, say, stabbing allowed?

Maybe knife throwing as a category? That he'd definitely compete in. He might go for just put physical dagger fighting as well, but I'd have to think about it.

Loki would be willing to judge magic if that's pure spell slinging, since that isn't something he'd actually enter. He wants to see what all his potential opponents can do. ;)

Wrong account, but what if there's an overlap with a character? Like, both Riku and Ven wield Keyblades, which are used like swords, but they're also magical weapons. :|a

Huh, I don't know much about the KH to be honest, so I can't say for sure, but I think it would work best if they switched their weapons for swords or brought up their case ICly later on and got a special allowance to bring their keyblades in the magic competition to only use as an extension to conjure magic.

Hrrm. Well sorry for the wrong account! If needed, Saori would be willing to judge the sword competition, and possibly archery as well. But I doubt she'd be interested in competing in either.

I'm not sure any of my other characters would participate, but they'd attend for sure.
